Fashion this summer seems to be taking ideas from every decade this year.
From the long flowing maxi dresses of the 70’s
to the dreaded, but tastefully done this year, triangle styled jackets from the 80’s.
We all have seen fashion, hair, and makeup change as quick as the sun goes up and comes down.
But this summer seems to be a free for all.
Whatever decade you choose to summon up this summer through fashion is not considered a faux paux,
More of like a “I wear what I want when I want” mantra.
Just in case you need a little decade fashion help.
Here’s some of the most iconic pieces making a comeback this summer:
THE ROCK & ROLL YEARS:
THE DECADE: ’50s
THEN: Audrey Hepburn ruled the look with girlie prom dresses
NOW: The hourglass look is back with a sexy spin of pouty lips and take-me-to-bed hair.
THE SWINGING DECADE
THE DECADE: ’60s
THEN: Twiggy made the bambino- look her own
NOW: The skittish baby-doll dresses and shifts are ubiquitous as are mascara-ed eyes and fresh no-makeup faces.
THE ERA OF EXPLORATION
THE DECADE: ’70s
THEN: The ABBA girls rocked the ’70s with their flared jeans and feathered bangs.
NOW: Long maxi- dresses and jumpsuits worn with platforms and sunglasses glam up the equation, as does subtle makeup.
THE POWER AGE
THE DECADE: ’80s
THEN: Melanie Griffith worked the power-look with her fierce shoulder padded suits and bold makeup.
NOW: The inverted triangle silhouette is back, complete with wide shoulders, big hair and intense eye makeup.
DIGITAL DECADE
THE DECADE:’90s
THEN: The girls of 90210 were a big influence with bright, bold printed, and body hugging outfits that inspired the inner Beverly Hills broad in us all.
NOW: The same bold bright prints are making a comeback.Along with banged long straight hair, vests and the ever so popular Doc Marten’s .
Which came first: is everyone too poor to buy new fashion, so we are all recycling our wardrobes through the decades and that has inspired designers…or did designers realise that everyone would be too poor to buy new fashion, so they are recycling through their collections over the decades and influencing us??
Do I know what I’m talking about? Clearly Not.
yes ,I do know what your talking about. But fashion will always have some sort of influence from past decades..good or bad.I’m just simply showing that the influences this year seem to be pulling from all decades not just one inparticular.
